The workshop was divided into two phases. The first phase comprised a series of online sessions, each 2 hours long. These evening sessions, scheduled from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, provided participants with an overview of the Bangladesh Labor Law 2006 and Bangladesh Labor Rules 2015, focusing on their practical application in the daily responsibilities of HR, Compliance, and Admin professionals in Bangladesh.
The second phase was a full-day, in-person workshop that focused on conducting internal disciplinary procedures in compliance with the labor law and rules. Participants learned about the various steps involved in these procedures and the detailed documentation process, including drafting show-cause notices, conducting inquiry proceedings, and preparing inquiry reports.
During the workshop, participants worked in teams to draft a โShow Cause Letter (aka Charge-Sheet)โ based on a specific case study and presented their work to the rest of the group. These drafts were then critically reviewed by other participants, who provided feedback and engaged in discussions.
In addition to exploring the application of labor laws and rules in various contexts, participants had the opportunity to discuss 80+ case laws from different labor courts and higher courts to reinforce their understanding.
A key highlight of the workshop was the use of realistic case studies, which challenged participants to apply their knowledge of labor law in practical scenarios. They were also provided with templates for various letters, such as Employment Separation Letters and Disciplinary Procedures Letters, enhancing the practical value of the training. Overall, the workshop offered 18 hours of highly engaging learning.
The workshop was facilitated by eminent legal professional and trainer Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General (Legal Affairs) of the Bangladesh Employersโ Federation (BEF), with support from Ishtiak Taher, Lead Consultant at WorkSMART.
More than 40 mid to senior-level HR, Admin, and Compliance professionals from diverse industries including RMG, Textiles, Pharmaceuticals, Shipbuilding, Banking, Real Estate, Consulting, and Logistics, participated in this workshop.
