The Interim Government of Bangladesh had established a Labor Reform Commission with the mandate to critically review the existing labor laws and recommend necessary reforms. The Commission’s objective was to ensure the legal framework governing labor in Bangladesh is modern, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving realities of workers and employers across various industrial sectors. After months of extensive consultations, research, and deliberation, the Commission has recently submitted a comprehensive report to the Government, outlining its key findings and recommendations.
This webinar aims to present and unpack the salient recommendations proposed in this report. We will delve into the interpretation of these recommendations, discuss their potential implications if implemented, and examine how they might shape the future of labor relations and workplace practices in Bangladesh. Moreover, we will explore whether any critical areas or perspectives have been overlooked in the report, and discuss what additional considerations might be necessary to ensure a balanced and sustainable labor reform agenda.
We are honored to host two distinguished panelists for this important discussion: Advocate AKM Nasim, a respected legal expert and one of the members of the Labor Law Reform Commission.
