The recent appointment of the first Bangladeshi CEO by Grameenphone Ltd connects to a lesser-known staffing theory named “Calvin Reynold’s Changing Staffing Pattern”. The theory shows, in the case of MNCs, an initially high number of ex-pats are employed in a new country. But, as local staff mature with time, the number of ex-pats drop, and at a certain point, the local staff starts assuming senior roles and moving abroad for expatriate employment. GP is a classic example of Reynold’s changing staffing pattern in Bangladesh.
